The video has since gone viral on social media.

During the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine final between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena on Monday, footage emerged showing Islamabad United all-rounder Imad Wasim smoking a cigarette in the dressing room.

After completing a five-wicket haul, the 35-year-old player retreated to the dressing room where he was spotted smoking. Following this incident, a video capturing the moment has rapidly circulated across various social media platforms.

Instances of players being caught smoking in the dressing room are not unheard of. For example, in 2022, Afghanistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Shahzad was found smoking and subsequently reprimanded by match officials.

Meanwhile, amidst the ODI World Cup, there was a sighting of Australia’s Glenn Maxwell using an e-cigarette within the confines of the dressing room.

It’s worth mentioning that Imad made history by becoming the inaugural player to achieve a five-wicket haul in a PSL final.

He kicked off the innings in style, securing two crucial wickets in his opening over, dismissing the in-form Yasir Khan and David Willey.

Imad’s mesmerizing performance with the ball persisted as he proceeded to dismiss three additional Sultans batters — Khushdil Shah, Johnson Charles, and Chris Jordan — thereby etching his name as the pioneer to claim five wickets in a PSL final.

Meanwhile, United’s chase is underway after Sultans set a 160-run target.

In the latter overs, Iftikhar Ahmed showcased his batting prowess, wrapping up his brief appearance with an impressive 32 runs off 20 deliveries, including three boundaries and an equal number of sixes.

Usman Khan, the top run-scorer for the Sultans in the tournament, laid a solid foundation with his innings, scoring 57 runs off 40 deliveries.
