In a heartbreaking incident, Anthony ‘Big Jook’ Mims, the brother of renowned rapper Yo Gotti, lost his life in a targeted shooting outside a Memphis restaurant. The tragic event unfolded on Saturday, prompting Memphis police to respond to reports of gunfire at Perignons Restaurant & Event Center around 4:15 p.m.

He was swiftly taken to St. Francis Hospital, where, regrettably, he was pronounced dead. Another individual, injured in the same incident, was privately transported to the hospital and later airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis, currently in critical condition.

Deputy Police Chief Paul Wright disclosed that both victims had been at the restaurant for a repast service. Preliminary investigations revealed that earlier in the day, Big Jook had attended a funeral service for a relative in the area, as reported by TMZ.

The police have yet to identify any suspects, and no arrests have been made. During a press conference, Deputy Chief Wright expressed the belief that the shooting was a targeted attack, although no connection to the rapper Yo Gotti has been established at this early stage of the investigation.

Anthony Mims was known not only as Yo Gotti’s older brother but also for his involvement in his brother’s record label, CMG the Label (Collective Media Group). His Instagram page reflects his connection to the label, where he primarily handled the business side and featured in various music videos released by CMG.

As the investigation unfolds, it remains unclear whether Yo Gotti was present with Big Jook during the tragic incident. The rapper, born Mario Sentell Giden Mims, has not issued any statement regarding the loss of his brother.

Yo Gotti, known for his contributions to the rap scene since his debut album in 1996, has garnered recognition with several BET Hip Hop award nominations, including Album of the Year for “I Am” in 2014. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kanye West.
