The Red Devils will host The Reds at Old Trafford.

Manchester United received a significant setback just before their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Liverpool, scheduled to take place at Old Trafford this Sunday.

There’s uncertainty looming over Manchester United’s crucial midfielder, Casemiro, ahead of their match against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side. This comes as the Brazil national team disclosed on Sunday that the 32-year-old will be sidelined for the upcoming international break.

FC Porto’s midfielder Pepe is poised to step in for Casemiro, as the former Real Madrid player is slated to remain out of action for another spell during the current season.

According to a press statement released by Brazil, Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar has provided an update. Out of the initial 50-player pre-list compiled by the Brazilian National Team’s technical committee, 13 players have already been sidelined due to injuries at their respective clubs.

“Regrettably, Casemiro’s absence has left a gap in our lineup. Consequently, we’ve called upon Pepe, a versatile midfielder currently representing Porto, to join the squad,” stated the spokesperson.

Having already sat out 17 matches between October and January due to various injuries, Casemiro now finds himself potentially sidelined once again. Despite this, Manchester United has yet to issue a statement regarding the expected duration of his recovery.

With their Premier League top-four hopes fading and their UEFA Champions League journey already ended, Manchester United’s last opportunity for silverware this season rests in the FA Cup. Erik Ten Hag is undoubtedly aware of this and will be determined to seize this chance with utmost determination.

Erik Ten Hag will turn to options like Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay, or Sofyan Amrabat to fill the void left by Casemiro against The Reds. Liverpool, currently leading the Premier League standings, pose a formidable challenge with their impressive form.

Meanwhile, Manchester United received a double boost with the return of key striker Rasmus Hojlund and midfielder Mason Mount, both declared fit to feature in the upcoming clash against Liverpool.

After being sidelined for a period, doubts loomed over the fitness of both players for the upcoming Liverpool match. However, Erik Ten Hag assured during a press conference that they have undergone regular training and are fully prepared to take on the Merseyside club.
